This policy applies to all information collected or submitted on the Torture Prevention Learning Village("TPV") website on all devices and platforms.
The Association for the Prevention of Torture is committed to processing data in accordance with its responsibilities, including under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
When you sign up for the TPV, we ask for identifying information such as your name and email address. This is all done so you can personalise your account. For security and audit purposes, in some scenarios we also collect your user agent string and IP address. We will never sell your personal info to third parties, or use your personal data in marketing statements without your prior explicit and written consent.
When you send us an email or contact us, we may use the information provided by you to respond to your communication and/or as described in this Privacy Policy. We may also archive this information and/or use it for future communications with you where we are legally entitled to do so. We use this information for the purposes of optimising and better tailoring our communications to you.

The TPV website utilises "cookies", small text files that permits us to recognise your browser in order to customise your experience. Our cookies are strictly related to website functionality and do not contain personal information.
We take appropriate security measures to prevent unauthorised access, disclosure, modification, or unauthorised destruction of your data. The data processing is carried out using computers and/or IT enabled tools, following organisational procedures and modes strictly related to the purposes indicated. In addition to the Owner/Data Controller, in some cases, your data may be accessible to certain types of persons in charge, involved with the operation of the website (administration, operational staff) or external parties (such as third-party technical service providers, mail carriers, hosting providers). The updated list of these parties may be requested from the Owner at any time.
Your data is stored securely on Amazon Web Services servers located in Frankfurt, Germany.
We do not share, sell or rent your data with any other entities.
In some cases, your data may be shared with third-party technical service providers such as our mail and hosting providers, but only for the purpose of reaching out to you and storing your data.
The Virtual café is a public discussion forum. Please remember that any information that is disclosed in these areas becomes public information, and you should exercise caution when deciding to disclose your personal information. If you have or are participating in any of the in-depth courses, please note that certain information that you provided may be visible to other users (who are or have participated in in-depth courses) in the public forum to enhance engagement. This may include your name, email, language, country and institution.
Versions of this Privacy Policy in a language other than English are provided for your convenience. This is understood and agreed that the English language version prevails in case of conflict of interpretation.

Reach out to us and we will make sure that all of your data is deleted within 30 days of receiving your request. Deleted information may be kept in backups for up to 90 days. Backups are accessed only if needed for disaster recovery.
You have the right to request that we export the data we have collected from you to another provider. We will export the data within 30 days of receiving your request.
