How we make a difference

Torture prevention is a shared responsibility. We work with dedicated government officials, parliamentarians, human rights defenders, civil society representatives and detention monitors from around the world.

Here are some of their stories.

Nejib Hosni, Tunisia: "I always believed that things would change"

Tsira Chanturia, Georgia: "NPMs need to address systemic issues"

Annette Groth, Germany: "Parliamentarians have the power to change"

José de Jesus Filho, Brazil: "We are witnessing a change in Brazil"

Boubou Diouf Tall, Senegal: "My goal is a torture-free Senegal"

Ruth Ssekindi, Uganda: "The roadmap will help to eradicate torture"

Véronique De Keyser, Belgium: "Giving torture more visibility within the EU"

Pornpen Khongkachonkiet, Thailand: "The community is powerful in curbing torture"
